Sure, along with the glorious long days, rooftops bars, and summer Fridays (yay, half days!) comes the stagnant humidity and constant sensation of dripping with sweat. But no time of year is better in New York City than summertime. Ok, yes, sure -- the holidays are pretty magical. And autumn is rather spectacular, too. But, no, really, summer is where it’s at.

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite things to do, eat, and drink (mainly eat and drink) during summer in NYC.

The Park NYC

{1} Brunch at the Park

You may be thinking Central Park. Nope! The Park is a restaurant and bar in Chelsea with some of the best bloody Marys and (complimentary) banana bread in the city.

I love grabbing brunch at this 18th and 10th ave establishment, and then checking out galleries and shops in Chelsea.

The Press Lounge

{2} Rooftop cocktails anywhere

While I’m particularly fond of my old rooftop at the top of my Hell’s Kitchen apartment, there’s nothing greater than grabbing a cocktail and relaxing with a remarkable view of the New York skyline. Some of my favorites are the Press Lounge (pictured above) and the Hudson Hotel.

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory

{3} Ice Cream in Chinatown

Forego chocolate and vanilla and dig into scoops of lavendar-colored ube (sweet potato) or burgundy-flecked anko (red bean) ice cream at the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory.

Also, Oddfellows is pretty great, too, for toasted ice cream brioche sandwiches covered in unique toppings like crumbled punjabi tea biscuits and drizzled in miso caramel sauce.
